The thing I like most and has made me choose Fine Art is the fact that I believe it can offer me the access to create concepts which allow my creativity to expand. The idea of learning new things about everyday life through art and exploring creative processes to create art is something which excites me.
My interests lie within the unusual textural qualities which found items have. Items which had a sense of history behind them as though they had been worn down or decayed, possibly due to some process of natural evolution or weathering of some kind.
I find myself pulled towards these objects rather than more pristine and perfect bits and pieces. This is possibly because of the environment around me and how I am submerged within its imperfect qualities. However it is more so because I can see the opportunities which arise from these objects, they lend themselves to working in interesting and new ways of pushing material‘s around.
I feel that I am a pro-active type of person who always dedicates 100 percent effort to my artwork, even if it means spending several hours out of College time working on my projects. I have the capability to produce a strong piece of art no matter what the media I am working in.
The imagery which I have chosen I have done so to try and represent a broad range of techniques and processes, which I feel has been successful throughout this year. In particular I feel that the way I have worked has been quite contemporary, especially when working onto found materials such as plastic and cardboard boxes. This is something which I am interested in as it has that current feel to it. It is meant to try and represent some type of process of recreation from one form into another, and whilst doing so interpreting the materials I am using and following the forms which they are allowing me to create.
